Happy First Father's Day, Caleb

I can't help it, I have to brag - I'm married to one of the best dad's around (it's a tight race between Caleb and my own dad)!

It was just a few weeks ago when Caleb surprised me on Mother's Day - when I was only a mommy to be - with a rocking chair for our front porch. He knew I was excited at the thought of some day rocking our son on our front porch, taking in a little of that Texas sunshine.

Never though, in a million years, did we imagine that on this Father's Day Caleb would actually be a father already. And when I asked Caleb what he wanted for Father's Day he simply replied, "Just my baby, Bryce."

I had gotten him a card but it pales in comparison to the one Bryce and his wonderful nurses did for him this morning:

Of course, it brought me to tears.

I can't help but feel grateful for the wonderful man my son has for a father, for the person that helps me keep it together when I'm overwhelmed by all that has happened. And also the one that holds me and understands when I just have to fall apart a little.

I thank God for a husband that makes me laugh when all I want to do is cry but who can also cry with me when there is nothing else to do.

How lucky is Bryce to have a daddy who wants nothing more than to help him grow strong and teach him the values and morals that he holds so dear.

How lucky are we to get to spend our lives with him.

  1. Mommy,

Those are such sweet things to say about my daddy. You are so right about everything you said. I want to be just like him when I grow up!!!! I love you both.

    Your son,

Mommy would you please give daddy a really really big hug and kiss for me xoxoxoxo

  3. 4. My goodness! That was so thoughtful. What a wonderful dad Bryce has. I couldn't imagine a better place for Bryce to be right now, with SO many people who love him

  5. What a perfect Father's Day card! Happy 1st Father's day Caleb!

  6. Your post brought tears to my eyes... And that Father's Day card is adorable!

  7. That is the sweetest little card!

There is no doubt that Baby Bryce has a wonderful daddy. He also has a pretty wonderful mommy too! I can only hope that I have fraction of the strength that the two of you have. Bryce is truly blessed to have you as parents, as you are him to have him as a son. What a beautiful family you have both inside and out.

You're in good hands there at Dell Children Hospital. They have an amazing staff. The compassion that group has in unreal! I will always have the utmost respect for all of them.

  8. my husband belongs to the same car chat website that your husband does and he forwarded this to me. I am a labor and delivery nurse who went into pre-term labor at 25 weeks with my twins. I cried when I first read your postings because I remember being there all too well. Your delivery is a l&d nurses nightmare and your family is truely composed of fighters. I know in the beginning it is day to day and those days sometimes drag but hang in there. Bryce is a beautiful baby and has amazing parents. He seems to be in great hands at his hospital and that truely does make a difference. My best wishes and prayers to all of you, Lindsey D (my husband is 99blownGT on the corral site)
