More About Us

Welcome, y'all!  I'm Katrina, a.k.a. Bryce's mom. Bryce is my 24 week micro-preemie who is now quickly approaching his 5th birthday (where in the world did all of that time go?!).

These are the stories of our lives - from the day after Bryce came so unexpectedly into our lives, the following 150 day NICU stay at Dell Children's in Austin, TX, the years of therapy and fighting for his rights since bringing him home, the struggle of trying my best to make my second pregnancy a much, much longer one...and finally what being a family of 4 means to us.

My sincere hope is that this personal story of raising a special needs kiddo can be a tool for other moms going through the same struggles: a place for them to know they aren't alone, an honest account of the highs and lows of raising a special needs child and a journal to show my little ones one day just how much their mommy loved and fought for them.

I hope you'll join us on this crazy journey!

Our Little Family Then...

These pictures were taken in November 2009 by a childhood friend of Caleb's, Dustin Meyer. Dustin is a world-class photographer here in Austin, TX - please pay him a visit if you are looking for a photographer to capture a time in your life that you never want to forget. Just as he did for us only weeks after bringing our precious baby boy home from his five-month NICU stay.

We are a new little family that was dealt a large little surprise by the four month premature birth of our son Bryce. After living in the neonatal ICU of Dell Children's Hospital in Austin for 5 long months, we are finally home with our sweet baby boy. These are the chronicles of living life with a micro preemie baby and all of the challenges we face on a daily basis. This blog helped us survive the scariest and most heart wrenching time of our lives. Now it will help us relish in the blessings of a new baby boy.

And Now...
